Virginia Requirements

o Appraiser Trainee
   75 hours education
   Examination
   (no experience required)

o Licensed Residential Appraiser
   90 hours education
   2,000 hours experience
   Examination

o Certified Residential Appraiser
   120 hours education
   2,500 hours experience
   Examination

o Certified General Appraiser
   180 hours education
   3,000 hours experience
   Examination

All licensed appraisers must complete 28 hours of continuing education during their two-year license term, to include the 7- hour course, The National Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.
